The University of Georgia women’s track and field team cemented its place among the nation’s elite by successfully defending its NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, claiming another national title in Eugene, Oregon. The Bulldogs finished with 50 points, outpacing fellow SEC powers Florida and Arkansas to secure consecutive outdoor championships and continue one of the most dominant runs in program history.
Georgia’s championship performance was fueled by several standout individual efforts, including record-breaking performances on the track. Adaejah Hodge delivered a historic showing in the 200-meter dash, setting a collegiate record, while Dejanea Oakley captured the national title in the 400 meters with a new NCAA record time. Their contributions helped the Bulldogs maintain a commanding lead throughout the competition and secure the program’s fourth outdoor national championship.
The title adds to what has already been a remarkable year for Georgia athletics, as the Bulldogs also captured the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship earlier this season. Head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert continues to build a national powerhouse in Athens, leading Georgia to back-to-back outdoor crowns and establishing the Bulldogs as one of the premier programs in collegiate track and field.
