Georgia Lottery Players Score Big Weekend Wins, Including $1 Million Prize

ATLANTA, GA — Several Georgia Lottery players are starting the week with much bigger bank accounts after a string of major wins across the state over the weekend.

According to the Georgia Lottery, winning tickets and online games produced prizes for players in communities including Atlanta, Augusta and Columbus, with the weekend’s biggest reported winner taking home $1 million.

The latest wins continue a particularly lucky stretch for Georgia players. Earlier this month, two Fantasy 5 tickets sold in Tallapoosa and Dalton each hit for $196,306 after matching all five numbers in the September 7 drawing. A Powerball ticket purchased in Calhoun also won $50,000, while a Mega Millions ticket sold in St. Mary’s scored a $30,000 prize.

Players using the Georgia Lottery’s digital games have also collected sizable prizes recently. Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, winners included a $30,000 prize in Kennesaw, $25,000 in Lawrenceville, $20,000 in Norcross and $12,000 in Riverdale.

The Georgia Lottery says proceeds from its games help fund education programs across the state, including the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Pre-K programs. Since the lottery began, more than $31.3 billion has been returned to Georgia for education.

With several significant prizes landing across Georgia in a short period, September is already shaping up to be a memorable month for some of the state’s lottery players.
