Last Day to Register: Georgia Voters Face Deadline Ahead of May Primary Election

0

ATLANTA — Time is running out for Georgia residents who want to have their voices heard in the upcoming primary elections. Monday marks the final day to register to vote for the statewide primary scheduled next month.

Voters across Georgia will head to the polls on May 19, 2026, where they will weigh in on a wide range of key races, including governor, U.S. Senate, and several statewide and local offices.

To participate, eligible residents must submit their voter registration application by the end of today. According to state guidelines, Georgia requires registration at least 30 days before Election Day, making April 20 the official cutoff.

For those unsure of their registration status, the state encourages voters to check their information through the Georgia Secretary of State’s “My Voter Page” portal. This tool allows residents to confirm their registration, find their assigned polling location, and preview their sample ballot ahead of Election Day.

New voters can register online or in person, but they’ll need a valid Georgia driver’s license or state-issued ID to complete the process. Even if an application is still being processed, as long as it is submitted by the deadline, voters will remain eligible for the May primary.

Residents who have recently moved or need to update their address must also submit a new registration form by today to ensure they are assigned to the correct polling location.

Georgia’s primary elections play a critical role in shaping the ballot for the November general election, determining party nominees and deciding certain nonpartisan races outright.

With the deadline here, election officials are urging all eligible voters not to wait until the last minute. Missing today’s cutoff means sitting out one of the most important steps in the 2026 election cycle.
