A celebration of life has been scheduled for a Geo A celebration of life has been scheduled for a Georgia woman who was who remained on life support to deliver her baby after being declared brain dead by doctors. The listing on the Levett Funeral Home website shows the funeral for 31-year-old Adriana Smith is set for Saturday, June 28 at Noon at Fairfield Baptist Church on Redan Road in Lithonia. Smith was found unresponsive and declared brain dead on Feb. 19 after complaining about a headache weeks prior, according to the GoFundMe page. Smith was nine weeks pregnant when she was admitted to Emory University Hospital. However, due to expecting her child, she was kept on life support due to Georgia’s heart beat law. (Literally) 🫵🏾🚧🔊 A massive heat wave is sweeping across much of the country this week, with more than 100 million Americans under some form of heat warning or advisory, according to the National Weather Service. From the Midwest to the East Coast, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s and even surpass 100 degrees in several cities. In Atlanta, forecasters say the mercury could reach the high 90s in the coming days, contributing to a stretch of potentially record-breaking heat. The ‘Heat Dome’ is an area of high pressure located in the mid to upper atmosphere. High pressure means sinking air — and that sinking air compresses as it reaches the ground. Compressed air heats up, causing the ‘dome’ of hot air. The ranking comes from the 2025 Global Liveability Index by The Economist, which evaluates 173 cities around the world based on factors such as stability, health care, education, infrastructure, and environment. Atlanta also earned recognition on the global stage, coming in at No. 29 among all cities surveyed. Copenhagen, Denmark claimed the top spot worldwide. The annual index is used by companies to assess living conditions in cities around the world, helping them determine hardship allowances for employees relocating internationally.
