After a long three-year wait, the 8-foot-bronze statue of Dr. Martin Luther King has been unveiled today at the Georgia State capital.
On today, 54 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC which makes today an even more special day to have the statue unveiled. Thanks to the help of the Coca Cola Company, Atlanta and Georgia Apartment Association, and the Martin Luther King Advisory Council the statue of Martin Luther King Jr. is going to be placed at the Georgia State capital.
Today, Martin Luther King Jr. is still one of the most beloved people who stood for liberty, justice, and equality. This statue is to remind us on not only who Dr. King was, but what he stood for and the changes he made throughout history.
