Trump is being sued by 16 states led by California after bypassing congress decision and declaring an emergency fund for a Mexican border wall.
According to FOX News, sixteen states filed a lawsuit in the Ninth Circuit against the Trump administration declaring emergency funding for Mexico border wall. They claim Trump has “veered the country toward a constitutional crisis of his own making.” Last week, Trump jokingly predicted the lawsuit. He has constantly degraded the Ninth Circuit as “disgraceful” and biased.
The states are pushing to stop the shifting of billions of dollars from military construction to the border without congressional permittance. They are also asking to declare Trump’s actions as illegal and unconstitutional under federal spending. The litigation is also including allegations that Trump is violating the “National Environmental Policy Act by planning to build a wall that could impact the environment without completing the necessary reports to do so.
The sixteen states including New York and California are standing to sue the administration because they believe the federal funds could have been spent on their expense. “Diverting necessary funds from real emergencies, crime-fighting activities, and military construction projects usurps Congressional power and will hurt Americans across the country. We will not stand fort his abuse of power and will fight using every tool at our disposal.” New York Attorney General Letitia James commented.
