FTC APPROVES

Amazon proposed a $13.7 billion dollar purchase of Whole Foods, which caused the company to be under the eye of the government. Since then, the company and their proposed purchase have won U.S. antitrust approval, meaning the merger between the two companies will actually take place.

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission approved the deal for Amazon and Whole Foods in under 30 days without an in-depth investigation. The FTC said that the merger would not hurt competition. An anti-trust lawyer in Washington named Norm Armstrong noted the FTC approved the deal because Whole Foods and Amazon are not competitors of each other. Along with that, consumers will have other options in terms of buying groceries.
