For the second time in less than a decade, Atlanta is hosting the national college football championship game.

The 2025 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship is slated for Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.  Atlanta becomes the first city to repeat as a host destination for college football’s biggest game.

A news conference and kickoff event will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.

The Atlanta Sports Council spearheaded the bid alongside its partners in the community including the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Atlanta, Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the State of Georgia.

The game’s return to Atlanta was announced in August 2022.

Similar to 2018, the Atlanta Football Host Committee will be housed under the Atlanta Sports Council’s Championship Hosting Division alongside the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Two Atlanta-based companies have already pledged their support to the Atlanta Football Host Committee, including Chick-fil-A and Georgia Power.
