Its 2017, our favorite president is gone and President Elect is on his way to the white house with the U-Haul but before Obama leaves it looks like at least one piece of legal tender will commemorate his excellence with the announcement that the U.S. Mint will be celebrating its 225th anniversary by minting a new coin that will feature Lady Liberty depicted as a black woman.

While this is a really amazing piece of history finally coming around, peep how this coin (and no doubt the others) will be 100 dollar coins. When have you EVER seen a $100 coin in circulation? It’s probably something dope to have as a collector, but will the store on the corner take my $100 coin?
Do note that this isn’t the first time a person of color was on legal U.S. tender; the Sacagawea one dollar coin has been in circulation since 2000. As CNN points out, there are only two coins with women on them in circulation. Whatever the case may be, if you want one of these Lady Liberty coins, make sure you’re keeping your eyes peeled for its release on April 6.
