ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta United gave its supporters something to celebrate Sunday evening, November 1, defeating Toronto FC 3–1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the club’s final home match of the 2026 MLS regular season.
Despite already being eliminated from playoff contention, the Five Stripes delivered an energetic offensive performance that brought an end to a six-game home winless streak.
Atlanta opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Miguel Almirón combined with Alexey Miranchuk before finishing past Toronto goalkeeper Luka Gavran.
The home side doubled its advantage in the 40th minute when 18-year-old Cooper Sanchez scored his first Major League Soccer goal following an assist from Almirón.
Atlanta continued its momentum after halftime, with Miranchuk adding a third goal in the 51st minute after an Almirón shot struck the post and rebounded into his path.
Toronto managed to avoid a shutout when Lewis Morgan scored in the 79th minute, but Atlanta maintained control to secure the victory.
The result was particularly meaningful for Atlanta’s younger players, including Sanchez, whose milestone goal provided another positive moment for the club’s developing talent.
The defeat also officially eliminated Toronto FC from postseason contention.
Although Atlanta United will finish the season without a playoff appearance, the victory offered encouragement as the organization looks toward future improvements.
The Five Stripes will conclude their regular-season schedule on the road against Red Bull New York.
