Georgia Extends Gas Tax Relief Through November

0

ATLANTA, GA — Georgia drivers will receive additional relief at the gas pump after Governor Brian Kemp announced an extension of the state’s motor fuel tax suspension.

The extension keeps the temporary tax break in effect through November 30, providing financial relief during a period of elevated fuel prices.

Georgia’s state fuel tax normally adds 33.3 cents per gallon to gasoline and 37.3 cents per gallon to diesel.

By suspending the tax, state officials hope to reduce transportation costs for families, commuters and businesses throughout Georgia.

According to the governor’s office, the average price of regular gasoline in Georgia was approximately $3.66 per gallon when the extension was announced, remaining below the national average.

The move comes as many households continue dealing with rising expenses, including groceries, housing and transportation.

State leaders say the extension is also intended to provide relief ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel season, when millions of Americans are expected to take to the roads.

The suspension is currently scheduled to remain in effect through the end of November.
