MARTA Launches Faster Bus Routes in Atlanta

0

ATLANTA, GA — MARTA is beginning construction on two major transit improvement projects designed to make bus transportation faster and more convenient for riders in southwest Atlanta and East Point.

The new Arterial Rapid Transit system will upgrade portions of existing bus routes along Cleveland Avenue and Metropolitan Parkway.

The improvements include modern bus shelters, larger boarding areas, real-time arrival information and traffic signal technology intended to reduce delays at intersections.

The Cleveland Avenue corridor will connect East Point Station with Jonesboro Road, while the Metropolitan Parkway project will improve transportation between West End Station and Cleveland Avenue.

Transit officials say the upgrades will benefit residents who depend on public transportation for work, school, medical appointments and other daily activities.

During construction, riders may experience temporary bus stop relocations, sidewalk closures and minor traffic disruptions. MARTA plans to maintain service throughout the construction period.

The projects are part of the agency’s broader effort to modernize Atlanta’s transportation system and improve access to essential services.
