ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta is moving forward with another major improvement to its growing network of walking and biking trails as construction begins on a new section of the BeltLine in Buckhead.
The latest project involves a 0.3-mile portion of the Northwest Trail near Bobby Jones Golf Course. The new section will connect existing trail infrastructure while improving access between nearby residential communities.
The development will include a wider multi-use pathway, improved lighting, landscaping and additional safety features designed to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists.
City leaders believe the expansion will help residents reach employment centers, healthcare facilities and neighborhood destinations without relying entirely on vehicles.
Construction on the new segment is expected to be completed in early 2028. The larger Northwest Trail will eventually stretch approximately 4.3 miles, contributing to Atlanta’s long-term goal of completing its 22-mile BeltLine loop.
The project represents another investment in neighborhood connectivity, transportation alternatives and outdoor recreation across the city.
