ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta United has added another major international name to its roster, signing Swiss forward Breel Embolo to a contract that will keep him with the Five Stripes through the 2029-30 season.
Embolo arrives in Atlanta from Stade Rennais in France, bringing years of experience from some of Europe’s top leagues as well as the international stage. The veteran striker has represented Switzerland in multiple major tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup.
The move gives Atlanta United an experienced attacking option as the club continues strengthening its roster. Embolo is known for his combination of size, speed and physical play, along with his ability to operate as a central striker and create opportunities in the attacking third.
His international résumé is another major part of the signing. Embolo has been a longtime member of the Swiss national team and has competed against some of the world’s top players during World Cup and European Championship competition.
Atlanta United announced the signing on August 23, making Embolo the latest high-profile international player to join the MLS club. His deal runs through the 2029-30 season, giving Atlanta a long-term piece for its attack.
For Five Stripes supporters, the addition brings another recognizable international talent to Atlanta and gives the club an experienced goal-scoring threat as it looks toward its next chapter.
All eyes will now be on Embolo as he prepares to begin his Atlanta United career and make his first appearance in front of the club’s supporters.
