Georgia Voters Turn Out in Big Numbers Ahead of Midterm Elections

0

ATLANTA, GA — Georgia is once again emerging as a major political battleground as early voting continues ahead of the November 3, 2026, midterm elections.

More than 811,000 Georgians had already voted in person as of Sunday afternoon, October 18, according to state election data cited in local reporting.

The strong turnout comes as candidates compete in closely watched races for the U.S. Senate and Georgia governor’s office.

Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff is seeking reelection against Republican Mike Collins, while former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Republican Rick Jackson are competing in the governor’s race.

Both major political parties are bringing national attention to Georgia as they work to energize voters.

President Donald Trump recently appeared at a campaign rally in Dalton supporting Republican candidates, while former President Barack Obama is expected to visit Atlanta to support Democratic campaigns.

The political activity reflects Georgia’s growing importance in determining the balance of power in Washington and the future direction of state government.

Issues including the economy, healthcare, public safety, housing affordability, and education remain central to the election.

With Election Day approaching, officials are encouraging eligible residents to review voting information, confirm polling locations, and participate in the democratic process.

Georgia’s election results could have significant consequences for both state leadership and national politics.
