ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta’s professional sports scene is getting another major addition.
The city’s upcoming National Women’s Soccer League franchise has officially been named Atlanta City FC, with the club unveiling its name, crest and colors ahead of its scheduled 2028 debut.
AMB Sports and Entertainment announced the club’s identity on Sept. 28.
Atlanta City FC will become the NWSL’s 17th club when it begins competition, bringing top-level women’s professional soccer back to the Atlanta market.
The announcement comes during a period of significant soccer growth across the region. Atlanta already has one of Major League Soccer’s most recognizable clubs in Atlanta United, while the city has also emerged as an important American soccer destination through major international events.
The new club will now have time to build its organization, fan base and roster before kicking off its inaugural season in 2028.
For Atlanta sports fans, the arrival of Atlanta City FC adds another professional franchise to a city whose soccer culture continues to expand.
