Georgia drivers are feeling more pressure at the pump as average gas prices across the state have climbed sharply over the past week.
The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline increased from $3.56 to $3.76, a 20-cent jump in just seven days. Nationally, the average price reached $4 per gallon, up 13 cents from the previous week. At Georgia’s current average, filling a standard 15-gallon tank would cost approximately $56.55.
According to AAA, rising crude oil prices tied to escalating tensions involving Iran are contributing to the increase. Strong summer travel demand and continued uncertainty in global energy markets could also keep upward pressure on fuel prices in the weeks ahead.
The latest increase comes as many Georgia families are traveling for summer vacations and other seasonal activities, making higher fuel costs an added expense for motorists across the state.
Drivers looking to save money may want to compare prices between nearby stations, combine trips when possible and keep vehicles properly maintained to improve fuel efficiency as prices continue to fluctuate.
