Tuesday Is Georgia’s Primary Elections

Tuesday will see President Biden go up against former president “Donald Trump” in a battle for the states presidential preference primary.

Trump, according to CBS News, currently has 1,076 delegates in his pocket, 139 short of the 1,215 needed to secure his third consecutive Republican White House nomination, a feat never before accomplished in American presidential politics.

No GOP presidential contender have ever been nominated for three consecutive elections; Grover Cleveland, a Democrat, was elected president in 1885 and served only one term before being elected to a second term four years later (1885-1889 and 1893-1897). President Franklin Delano Roosevelt holds the record for the most nominations: four.

There are 161 delegates available on Tuesday: 59 in Georgia; 40 in Mississippi; 43 in Washington state; and 19 in Hawaii. Trump needs a bulk of those delegates to push him over the top.

Biden, the 81-year-old Democratic incumbent president, is seeking reelection, while the man he ousted from the Oval Office four years ago is seeking his third straight GOP White House nomination. Trump, 77, and several Republican allies are under indictment in Fulton County for an alleged organized crime-like attempt to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election.
