An Atlanta high school will move to remote learning because of a fire that happened at the school Thursday.

Frederick Douglass High School will be virtual on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. Teachers can return to the building Monday but students won’t return until Wednesday.

NewsChopper 2 flew over the high school Thursday. Atlanta Fire Department said there was a small fire that caused an evacuation.

The fire was extinguished by sprinklers in a third floor boys restroom.

Atlanta Public Schools said the school will undergo repairs, restoration and cleaning while the students are learning remotely.

“The safety, security and well-being of our students and staff will always be a top priority at Douglass High School and in all Atlanta Public Schools,” the district wrote in a statement.

Parents have been told that if their child need a device, has been having trouble with their device, or difficulty logging in, to contact the school.

Pre-packaged breakfast and lunch meals will be available at the school for pick-up from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. all three days.
