FIND OUT IF YOUR PROFILE HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY ANOTHER USER FOR BULLYING!

In an attempt to dismantle the “war on bullying,” Instagram is test launching tests two new features: comment warnings and a shadow ban called “Restrict.”

For the trolls and the internet gangstas, Instagram is launching ‘Comment Warning,’ a feature that will prompt users using offensive or “borderline” language to reevaluate and examine their comments before they post. The feature supposedly can detect the derogatory content as the user is typing.  Instagram Head, Adam Mosseri, wrote that this feature is being introduced to motivate “some people [a meaningful minority] to undo their comment and share something less hurtful once they had a chance to reflect.”

As for users on the other end, those who get bullied, the second feature being introduced will allow users to isolate their bullies without banning them. “Restrict,” is particularly important for teens who don’t want their bullies to know that they have noticed them. Once an account is set as restricted several things will happen. One, account owners will be able to monitor comments that restricted account’s attempts to post on their content. With the use of the age-old,  “shadow ban,” technique restricted accounts will be “prevented from posting publicly, but still believes they are.” Once the restricted user posts a comment, the account owner of the profile will have to the ability to approve it, delete it, or leave it in a limbo state where only the restricted poster can see it. The comments from a restricted user will also appear behind a “sensitivity screen,” meaning the user will have to choose to see it; similar to “message request” in the direct messages tab.

Want to find out if you’re restricted? It’s super easy! If you have to type out an entire handle letter by letter, it’s likely that you have been blocked without being blocked!
