Woman with 2 wombs gives birth twice, nearly a month apart

A 20-year-old Bangladeshi woman gave birth to twins, 26 days after giving birth to her first child. Dr. S.N. Basu says, “It is not very common to have two uteruses. When the uterus develops, it comes from two tubes and those tubes fuse together. For some women, the fusion does not occur and the dividing wall does not dissolve,”.

Arifa Sultana gave birth to a boy in late February with a normal delivery process and after about four weeks she had to be readmitted to the hospital. Sultana was complaining about pain she was having in her abdominal area. After examination it was found that she was pregnant with twins. Sultana had a condition called uterus didelphys where she had two utereuses causing for her to concieve in 2 separate wombs. This condition wasnt detected because she never got an ultrasound during her first preganancy. At this time both mother and babies are healthy and not at any risk.
