GLAAD announced Monday that the Carters will receive its Vanguard Award at its 30th annual awards on March 28. The power couple will be honored at the GLAAD Media Awards for accelerating LGBTQ acceptance.
GLAAD said Beyonce is being recognized for speaking out about marriage eqality nationwide and for including members of the community in her music videos.
“Beyonce and Jay-Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and the acceptance for all people. When they speak they have influence and power and when it comes to the LGBTQ community their voices are heard loud and clear” GLAAD President and CEO says.
Other notable recipients are Kerry Washington, J.Lo, and Whoppi Goldberg.
