“Make a n**ga respect you…he’s rich and has these folks struggling” #FACTS
The government has been on shutdown for over a month now. Rapper offset recently had an interview with Esquire to talk about his release of his upcoming solo album. During the conversation, he also discussed the reality for the thousands of furloughed federal workers who are trying to provide for their families without the income.
Following his wife, Cardi B, ‘Set called out Donald Trump over his government shutdown: “We’re going through a f***ed up time,” he told Esquire. “Both sides. Black and the white. You know why? The government shutdown. Black people aren’t working, white folks aren’t working. It’s everybody.”
The rapper went into more detail about his complaints over the shutdown: “This ain’t supposed to be going down. Not in America. We got our chest out, we got the money, we got the cars, we got the celebrities, we got the stars, everybody wants to be like us. All these other countries when I go there, they’re inspired by us,” he said. “Seeing people talk about how they can’t pay their bills but they have to work. That’s some slave s**t. I don’t really get into politics because I’m usually on the other side of it. There’s black mothers with jobs, and now you take their jobs away. And then the president, I don’t really want to speak on him but he’s rich. Make a n**ga respect you, because a n**ga don’t respect you. He’s rich and has these folks struggling.”
Even though we still have no clue on when the government shutdown will end, Offset’s statement is a reminder that no one, including the nations most famous individuals, can afford to ignore what’s happening to the government.
