Issa Rae’s bold attire at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards ceremony is no surprise. “Every n**** is a Star,” daringly rested written on Issa’s beltline complimented by a beautiful blue Pyer Moss gown.
During her opening monologue, Rae fired a shot at Kanye West’s controversial remark that 400 years of slavery was a choice for African Americans.
She said, “I’m about as fashionable as Kanye is black. Only when it’s convenient,” she said. “That joke was my choice, just like slavery.”
While Kanye West was not in attendance, his wife, Kim Kardashian West was present and became the first recipient of the CFDA Influencer Award.
