PRAY FOR ALTON STERLING’S FAMILY!

The Louisiana Attorney General, Jeff Landry, reported that no charges will be filed against the two Baton Rouge police officers who shot Alton Sterling, 37, on July 5, 2016. He was shot several times in close range while being held down by Baton Rouge Police officers. It was reported that Sterling was reaching for a weapon in his pocket while being held down by police on the ground. The police were responding to a complaint that a man had been selling CD’s outside of a store and was a “threat”.

In May 2017, The Department of Justice investigated the incident, but decided they would not file criminal charges on the officers. Louisiana’s attorney general agreed that if provided physical evidence from The Department of Justice the state would reopen the case; however, the office announced this week that the case would remained closed and the officers will remain uncharged for the death of Alton Sterling.

Via a press conference, Landry said “This decision was not taken lightly. We came to this conclusion after countless hours of reviewing the evidence.” He also went on to say the officers’ actions were “well-found and reasonable.”

Prosecutors felt there wasn’t enough evidence to bring civil rights charges against Howie Lake II and Blane Salamoni, the officers who shot Sterling.
