ESPN Suspended their host Jemele Hill for 2 weeks due to her social media!

ESPN network announced Monday that Jemele Hill violated the second social media guidelines. ESPN stated “In the aftermath, all employees were reminded of how individual tweets may reflect negatively on ESPN and doing so such actions would have consequences. Hence this decision.”

On Sunday night before the ESPN suspension, Hill took to social media to make her comments on Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones previously stated in a interview “Any cowboy player that disrespects the flag, wont play”. Hill then replied that “Jerry Jones has also created a problem for his players, specifically the black ones. If they do not kneel, some people will see them as sellouts. If you strongly reject what Jerry Jones said, the key is his advertisers. Don’t place the burden on the players.”

Donald Trump also replied to Jones’ statement on Twitter by saying “A big salute to Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, who will BENCH players who disrespect our Flag. Players will stand for anthem or sit for game!”

Hill’s suspension comes with drama as previously Hill was the center of another controversy when she called President Trump a “white supremacist” on Twitter. Hill’s new tweets may cause a problem for ESPN. She made another statement saying “Change happens when advertisers are impacted. If you feel strongly about Jerry Jones statement, boycott his advertisers.”

ESPN staff member Lindsay Czarniak tweeted “The suspension of my friend @jemelehill is sad and disappointing on a number of levels.” Hill’s co-host Michael Smith wanted to take time to digest the situation and had a mutual agreement between him and the network.
