MISCARRIAGES, RACISM AND MORE Gabrielle Union has a new book coming out, “We’re Going to Need More Wine”, in which she opens up about deep troubles in her past.

Union discusses her issues with infertility, along with conflicting feelings she harbored over the years when it came to her race, and other aspects of her life.

“I have had eight or nine miscarriages,” Union wrote in her book. “For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant- I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.”

Throughout this struggle, Union and her husband, Dwayne Wade, “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child (they’ve) both dreamed of.”

At first, Union did not foresee children in her future, but after spending time with Dwayne’s two sons from a previous marriage and his nephew, she caught a glimpse at the happiness that children could bring into her life.

“I never wanted kids,” Union told PEOPLE Magazine. “Then I became a stepmom, and there was no place I’d rather be than with them.”

In “We’re Going to Need More Wine”, coming out officially on October 17, Union also talks about the feelings of uncertainty she held when it came to her race as a child.

She did everything she could to assimilate with the white culture, from begging her mom to straighten her hair, to changing the way she spoke/things she spoke about.

At the end of the day, Union says that all of her life experiences have made her into the confident person she is today.

Make sure to grab her book, “We’re Going to Need More Wine”, hitting stores October 17th!
