Sunday night at 10:08 p.m, A gunman (64) Stephen Paddock fired gun shots from the 32nd floor into a crowd of thousands during a country music festival from the Mandalay Bay hotel. Paddock killed at least 59 people and 527 others were injured. Police believe the shooter, Stephen Paddock, killed himself before they entered his suite.
In Paddock’s hotel suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort, police recovered 23 weapons. A handgun and multiple rifles (some had scopes on them). Authorities also found several pounds of ammonium nitrate, a material used to make explosives, in his car.
Police also searched the gunman’s home in Mesquite, Nevada, where they found at least 19 firearms, explosives, several thousand rounds of ammunition and some electronic devices.
Paddock was alive when he made first contact with officers. He had a suite with two rooms and fired at the officers through the door. He shot a security guard in the leg. the SWAT team then broke down the door but Paddock had already killed himself.
Hundreds of Nevadans waited in long lines to give blood on Monday, to help victims of the shooting. People were also donating flights, housing, food, transportation and other goods to victims.
