Former county employee was shot and killed by deputy after confrontation!Splading County, Ga – Sheriff Darrell Dix reported that 2 of his deputies showed up on Collier Drive Wednesday night responding to a call. When deputies were on the scene a man had a gun and was threatening the deputies that he would commit suicide.
Sheriff Dix states “When the deputies arrived, they went to the rear side of the residence. When the suspect came out the door, there was a confrontation between the deputy and the suspect.”
Dix also explains that the confrontation ended when the man pointed his gun at one of the deputies. The deputy than discharged his weapon striking the suspect once and the man died from his injury.
Sheriff Dix told Channel 2 news that the man they shot and killed worked at the county jail several years ago. The man was acting suicidal and left his deputy no choice but to shoot.
