Jason Stockley, a Caucasian police officer on trial for the murder of 24-year-old Anthony Lamar Smith. was acquitted. The people of St. Louis were angry and began gathering in the streets of downtown St. Louis to protest. The demonstrations quickly became violent and over 120 people have been arrested for allegedly attacking police, breaking windows and flipping over trash cans.
The protests have continued for 4 days and other demonstrations have sprouted in other locations. This includes the St. Louis Justice Center.
The Anthony Lamar killing took place 3 years prior to the Michael Brown killing however the acquittal of Stockley resurfaced emotions of these Missouri communities.
Celebrities such as Nick Cannon have been seen supporting the protests to fight for justice.
