The largest casualty of the USA’s opioid epidemic has made itself clear; American teenagers.

New federal data on overdose deaths reveals that in just one year, from 2014 to 2015, drug overdose deaths among teens ages 15 to 19 climbed 19 percent. The statistical increase now stands at 3.7 from 3.1 opioid related deaths for every hundred thousand teens, marking the first increase in nearly a decade.

Studies revealed that only one in four young people, ages 13 to 25, are actually getting help for opioid abuse.
