THE WOMAN CLAIMS THERE WERE NO CAMERAS IN THE PARKING GARAGE!

A disabled woman who was robbed inside an Atlanta hospital parking garage is speaking out about the terrifying incident.

The woman asked to go by the name “Rena” and was too afraid to show her face after she told Atlanta police she was robbed on the second level of a parking garage at Atlanta Medical Center Friday afternoon.

Rena used her walker to get to her vehicle when the robber approached her. “Someone approached me from behind and basically told me drop your purse or I will shoot,” said Rena.

When speaking to FOX 5, she expressed her security concerns about the garage not having cameras. “This was a life or death situation,” said Rena.  “I thought I would never see my child again.”

According to an Atlanta Medical Center spokesperson, there had not been a robbery in the parking garages in at least seven years.  The statement went to say:

“We have not been contacted by the Atlanta Police Department (APD), nor were we alerted by a patient or visitor, regarding a reported robbery in our parking garage. All of the cameras in the parking garages are functioning correctly and we are currently reviewing the video.”

However, it is contradicting police reports. Rena said she was approached from behind and could only see a glimpse of the thief because there were no cameras to caption him.

“We need to step-up security because you have to think about people who are in scooters, people that utilize walkers, these are some people that might be targeted,” said Rena.

Atlanta Police is still investigating the incident.
