Sports bookies are placing their bets for and against O.J. Simpson, and not for anything he’d be able to do on a football field at age 70. Rather, wagers are being made on whether the beleaguered NFL great will be released from prison in October, as a successful parole board hearing on Thursday, July 20, would see to.
When betting on the decision opened up on June 22 oddsmakers favored Simpson’s release with -200 (1/2 odds). That line has risen with the odds currently standing at a more probable -270 (10/27) chance he’ll be released. Thus a bet of $27 would make for a $10 profit. A +180 line (9/5 odds) says that the Nevada Parole Board will decline his parole request. These are the odds as they currently stand via the Bovada online gambling website.
Simpson was sentenced to a 9 to 33-year sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping in
2008.
