“RACISM STILL EXIST”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. took the high road after Thursday’s [July 13] intense presser in New York City, insisting that he is about giving respect to get respect. He also let it be known that the Irish UFC champ’s disrespect of his family and his personal space have been duly noted, but that he will wait until August 26 to let him have it all back in the ring. But while reflecting on some of the personal boundaries that were crossed, the boxing great also felt compelled to speak on societal racism and gave examples from his own career about how it is being exhibited before his fans very eyes.

“Remember this, when I tell you guys: racism still exists. When I, Mayweather, was flashy. I’ve been flashy for years. Dan Rafael, y’all know this. Flashy. Mink coats, and y’all know I’ve been driving Ferraris and Bentleys and Rolls Royce’s over 20 years. All this flashy stuff I was doing. ‘Oh, he’s arrogant, he’s cocky, he’s this.. he’s that.. he’s unappreciative,” Floyd said before a room filled with reporters. “But then you take this same guy, thats in contact sports, steal my whole blueprint and he go and do it, and they praise him for it … Boy, oh boy, oh boy. But these are the things we don’t see. The things we act like we don’t see.”
