FAKE NEWS STORIES ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET, AND THESE TWO COMPANIES ARE SICK OF THEM!

False news stories are designed to trick you and it can be hard to determine if a source is credible. It is so difficult that Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, obliviously shared a link to a fake news story on Twitter. Google and Facebook are making efforts to stop fraud news publishers.

These two major companies will no longer extend their ad-selling services to fake news sites. This decision was made in response to accusations that voters were influenced by deceptive content on the internet during the presidential campaign.

According to  CNN Money, Facebook says that it will no longer put ads from faulty news publishers on websites or third party apps. This information falls under the umbrella of “illegal, misleading, or deceptive” content.

Mark Zuckerberg dismissed the claims that fake news stories posted on Facebook during the presidential campaign had an effect on voters.

Google also plans to ban “misrepresentative content”  from its advertising platform. According to a statement released by the company, Google “will restrict ad serving on pages that misrepresent, misstate, or conceal information about the publisher, the publisher’s content, or the primary purpose of the web property.”

Google also plans to make small changes to its search algorithms. The company only removes pages that contain malware or other illegal content from its search.

These are the first steps towards removing fake stories from the internet. Will it be enough to satisfy critics?
