{STREETZ MORNING TAKEOVER} GAME 7 OF THE WORLD SERIES AT 8 PM TONIGHT

The Chicago Cubs needed a bit of inspiration.

So before Game 5 of the World Series, first baseman Anthony Rizzo added a new wrinkle to the team’s warmup routine: He tuned all the televisions in their clubhouse to the movie “Rocky,” blasted the theme song and jumped around the room like a madman, shadowboxing with whomever he could find.

“We’ve got to go the distance now,” Rizzo would say later, after the Cubs staved off elimination with a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday night. “We’ve got to believe in it.”

With the Cubs on the verge of seeing their magnificent season go to waste, the stadium had a different vibe Sunday than during the previous two nights—less party than prayer session, with 41,711 anxious fans in the pews. Anticipating that reaction, Maddon before the game offered a message to the Chicago faithful.
