Hosted by comedian Druski at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the annual event featured emotional speeches, surprise appearances and star-studded performances while recognizing both rising stars and legendary icons.

Teyana Taylor emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, earning multiple honors, including the prestigious Icon of the Year Award. Cardi B continued her award-winning run by taking home Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while Clipse added to their celebrated comeback with major victories. Kehlani was named Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Leon Thomas won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Kendrick Lamar secured Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and Doechii and SZA were recognized with the BET Her Award. In sports, A’ja Wilson and Jalen Brunson were among the athletes honored for their outstanding performances over the past year.

Beyond the competitive categories, the ceremony paid tribute to several influential figures whose impact extends far beyond entertainment. Lauryn Hill received the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award following a powerful tribute featuring some of today’s biggest artists before delivering a surprise performance herself. Music executive Sylvia Rhone was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award for her decades of leadership in the music industry. The 2026 BET Awards once again highlighted the achievements, creativity and cultural influence of Black artists, entertainers and athletes while delivering one of the year’s biggest celebrations of music and culture.
