Kendrick Lamar has secured his second Emmy Award following his historic Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, which drew a record-breaking 133.5 million viewers, surpassing Michael Jackson’s long-standing mark from 1993.
The Compton star took home the award for Outstanding Music Direction alongside Tony Russell, with the performance also earning nominations in choreography, directing, and live variety special categories.
This win adds to Kendrick’s first Emmy from 2022, earned with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and 50 Cent for their Super Bowl LVI show. On top of that, he remains the only rapper this year to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 every week, thanks to hits like “Not Like Us,” “Peekaboo,” and “Luther” with SZA.
