ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Falcons suffered a frustrating defeat Sunday night, falling 30–23 to the Baltimore Ravens in overtime during a dramatic matchup that ended with concerns surrounding starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
Atlanta battled back after a slow offensive start and appeared positioned to secure a much-needed victory. However, Baltimore managed to tie the game late in regulation, sending the contest into overtime.
The Falcons faced an additional setback when Penix suffered a rib injury following a fourth-quarter sack. Although he briefly returned to the field, he was unable to finish the game, forcing backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa into action.
Baltimore capitalized on its opening overtime possession, with quarterback Tyler Huntley scoring on a rushing touchdown to give the Ravens a seven-point advantage.
Atlanta received another opportunity to respond, but its comeback attempt ended when Tagovailoa threw an interception to Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton.
The loss drops the Falcons to 2–3 and raises questions about the team’s quarterback situation heading into its next matchup.
Penix’s health will be a major storyline throughout the week as Atlanta evaluates its options and attempts to regain momentum.
For Falcons fans, the defeat represents another missed opportunity in a competitive season where finishing games remains critical.
