ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Dream are heading back to the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2013 after completing an impressive playoff sweep against the New York Liberty.

Atlanta secured its championship appearance Friday, October 9, with an 85–83 victory in Brooklyn, completing a three-game sweep of one of the league’s most competitive teams.

Angel Reese delivered a standout performance, leading the Dream with 22 points, while Rhyne Howard contributed 21 points to help Atlanta secure the historic victory.

The fourth-seeded Dream entered the postseason determined to establish themselves among the league’s elite teams.

Their success against New York has demonstrated the team’s ability to compete under pressure and deliver important performances in critical moments.

The achievement is especially meaningful for Atlanta basketball fans, who have waited more than a decade to see the franchise return to the championship stage.

Atlanta last reached the WNBA Finals in 2013 and is now pursuing the first league championship in franchise history.

The Dream will face the winner of the Las Vegas Aces and Golden State Valkyries series, with the WNBA Finals scheduled to begin Saturday, October 17.

With the city’s attention turning toward the championship series, Atlanta has an opportunity to celebrate another major milestone in women’s professional sports.

The Dream are now just four victories away from bringing a WNBA championship to Atlanta.
