LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Costco could be bringing another massive warehouse store to metro Atlanta, this time in Gwinnett County.
The Lawrenceville City Council has approved a rezoning request that would allow Costco to redevelop nearly 20 acres at 2555 University Parkway, located just over two miles north of Lawrenceville City Hall. ajc
Plans submitted to the city call for a roughly 158,000-square-foot warehouse, along with a gas station featuring 32 pumps and more than 850 parking spaces. ajc
Residents shouldn’t expect the doors to open immediately, however. A Lawrenceville council member indicated the location isn’t expected to open until approximately 2028 or 2029. ajc
The proposal comes as Costco continues expanding its footprint around metro Atlanta.
If completed, the development would give Lawrenceville-area shoppers another major retail destination while adding to the continued commercial growth around the State Route 316 corridor.
