UNITED STATES — Consumers with milk allergies are being warned to check their snack cabinets after The Better Bakehouse Snack Company recalled certain Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts because the products may contain milk that is not declared on the label.
The voluntary recall involves Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts sold in 7.05-ounce cartons containing 10 mini donuts. Each carton contains five individual 1.41-ounce pouches.
The affected product can be identified by UPC 3 50041 39210 3, a “Best If Used By” date of September 15, 2026, and Lot Code 26078. The recall is limited to specific products manufactured and distributed in March 2026.
The donuts were distributed to retailers nationwide and were also sold through Amazon, meaning consumers across the country could potentially have the recalled product in their homes.
According to the FDA recall notice, the issue was discovered after one allergic reaction was reported in connection with the product. The individual has since fully recovered, and FOX 5 reported that no additional allergic reactions had been reported as of its latest update.
The company says its contract manufacturer identified the cause of the labeling mistake and has taken corrective action. The concern is particularly serious for people with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity because consuming an undeclared allergen can potentially cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
Milk is one of the nine major food allergens recognized in the United States. Allergic reactions can include symptoms such as hives, swelling, vomiting, wheezing and difficulty breathing, while severe reactions can progress to potentially life-threatening anaphylaxis.
Consumers who have the affected donuts should not eat them if they have a milk allergy or sensitivity. The company says customers can throw the recalled product away and obtain a refund from the place of purchase with a receipt, or return the product to the retailer for a refund.
