Several Metro Atlanta school districts are warning students they may face disciplinary action if they participate in planned walkouts during the school day, according to local officials.
Districts including Paulding County have reinforced that leaving campus or skipping class without permission violates the student code of conduct and could lead to consequences, though specifics were not always detailed.
Officials stressed that while student voices and expression are important, disruptions to instructional time are taken seriously and may result in penalties such as suspensions or the loss of privileges.
The warnings come as additional walkouts are planned this week in multiple counties including Newton, Fulton and Gwinnett, where students are expected to leave classes to protest various issues.
