Flight Cancellations Slow Down Monday at Atlanta Airport After Winter Storm Impacts

0

After a chaotic weekend of travel disruptions, conditions are improving at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as airlines work through delays caused by the winter storm.

According to early Monday numbers, the world’s busiest airport saw fewer cancellations compared to Sunday, when more than 1,000 flights were canceled due to the storm. By 3:30 a.m. Monday, reports showed 192 cancellations and 43 delays for flights traveling into and out of Atlanta.

Much of the impact continues to involve Delta Air Lines, Atlanta’s hometown carrier, as flight operations slowly ramp back up. Delta officials said flights began resuming Sunday night, but lingering below-freezing temperatures—including in Atlanta—could still cause disruptions, especially during the morning hours.

For travelers who need flexibility, Delta travel waivers remain available, allowing customers to adjust plans without additional cost.

Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra time for travel as airport operations continue recovering from the storm.
