DoorDash is taking a major step toward improving food access for low-income families by expanding its partnership with the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The food delivery platform now allows customers to use their SNAP/EBT benefits to order groceries from select retailers across the country, making it easier for families to get the essentials they need without leaving home.
Through this new integration, users can purchase SNAP-eligible grocery items from participating stores such as Dollar General, BJ’s Wholesale Club, ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer, Winn-Dixie, Harveys, and Schnucks directly through the DoorDash app. While restaurant meals and hot foods aren’t covered under SNAP, eligible items like fresh produce, dairy, bread, and pantry staples can now be delivered straight to customers’ doors.
DoorDash has also introduced a discounted DashPass plan for SNAP users, offering reduced service fees and lower delivery costs for those who have recently used their EBT card on the platform.
This effort is part of DoorDash’s larger mission to bridge the gap in food access, particularly as many families face rising grocery costs and potential cuts to government assistance programs. The company has also pledged to deliver 1 million free meals and waive certain fees through its “Emergency Food Response” initiative during periods of SNAP funding uncertainty.
By expanding its SNAP/EBT payment options and partnering with more grocery retailers, DoorDash is helping to make grocery delivery more inclusive — offering convenience, dignity, and reliable access to food for millions of Americans.
