0

The BET Hip-Hop Awards took place on Friday night but it finally aired on Tuesday. Hip-hop’s biggest stars emerged for an eventful evening filled with stunning performances. Fat Joe led the evening as the evening’s host while artists like Kodak Black, GloRilla, The Clipse, and more touched the stage. Drake led the awards with 10 nominations including Hip Hop Album of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year. Meanwhile, hip-hop’s usual chart-toppers also earned numerous nominations, such as Cardi B, Kanye West, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, who won six awards — the most out of any nominee.

In addition to the awards, BET also honored Trina with this year’s I Am HIp-Hop Award. The Miami veteran expressed her love and gratitude for the network, her fans, and her peers in the game.

Trina also left the award show with a massive honor. BET gave the Miami veteran the I Am Hip-Hop Award at the ceremony. Trina thanked her mother, for the award show, and gave flowers to all of the women in the culture. She closed out the emotional speech, declaring, “I am still and will always be the original baddest chick from the 305!”
