Major League Baseball is back and it was the talk of the town on sports radio 680 The Fan on Friday.
“I have to say I’m genuinely thrilled to be able to say that Major League Baseball is back and we’re going to play 162 games,” MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred said.
The 99-day lockout was the second longest in league history. But it’s over and the Atlanta Braves are ready to defend last year’s world championship.
“Well, I think we all just breathed a big sigh of relief yesterday when we got the news. I know I let out a big scream because it was looking bad and like we might lose a half a season or more and especially coming off the championship year that was going to really sting,” Braves fan Jeremy Buckmaster said.
On Friday, workers touched up the grounds outside Truist Park. Opening day is right around the corner on April 7 and still no word on whether Braves superstar Freddie Freeman will be back.

“He’s certainly the lynchpin of the organization so I definitely think that he’s important and hopefully they also bring back fan favorite Joc Pederson as well because I feel like he is the gel for the team right now,” Braves fan Matt Hiers said.
There’s no question fans want the same team back that won it all last year giving Atlanta its first major championship in a quarter of a century.
“Baseball is definitely in the air, and I just can’t wait to be a part of it again,” Buckmaster said.
Players with the Atlanta Braves must report to Spring Training in Florida on Sunday.
