A baby was found safe by DeKalb County Police after allegedly being abducted by a teen early Thursday morning during a vehicle theft, sources tell CBS46.
Police issued an Amber Alert for 1-year-old Royalty Grisby, who was in the backseat of a vehicle as it was stolen in front of a home on the 1200 block of Harvest Dale Court in Stone Mountain. The vehicle was later found abandoned off Young Road in Stone Mountain around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police said the vehicle’s driver was attempting to deliver food at a home around 2 a.m. and left the child inside the vehicle. That’s when the suspect jumped in and took off.
During a press conference Thursday afternoon, authorities identified the suspect to be a 14-year-old teen, Malachi Richardson.
Around 1:38 p.m. DeKalb County Police located Richardson in Atlanta near Bolton Road, where he was then taken into custody.
