Google, YouTube comes back online after outages

Google and many of its services, including Google Drive, YouTube and Gmail, came back online after users reported widespread outages Monday morning, according to a website that tracks outages.

Google services back up after hour-long outage

Update 9:56 a.m. ET Dec. 14: After about an hour of being down, Google services are back up and running.

Google Classrooms were among the platforms that were not functioning Monday morning, keeping students from remote learning, CNN reported.

Google released a statement that read in part, “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.”

Some Google services appear to be coming back online

Update 7:43 a.m. ET Dec. 14: Some users are reporting that Google services appear to be coming back online; however, Google has not issued an official statement confirming that an outage occurred or has ended.

DownDetector.com received reports of problems with Google Hangouts at 7:26 a.m. ET and Google Meet at 7:36 a.m. ET.

Original report: Google and many of its services, including Google Drive, YouTube and Gmail, appeared to be down Monday morning, according to a website that tracks website outages.

According to DownDetector.com, users began reporting shortly before 7 a.m. ET that they were having problems accessing Google, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Classroom, YouTube TV, Google Home, Google Play and YouTube Music.

An attempt to access a Google Docs file returned the following error message: “Google Docs encountered an error. Please try reloading this page, or coming back to it in a few minutes.”

No further information was immediately available.
