Sony still didn’t show off the much anticipated new PlayStation 5 at CES. Instead, it showed us the logo. It isn’t shocking, but it’s pretty sweet. Sony changed the 4 to a 5, and… it’s rounder? More details inside…

Sony PlayStation’s President and CEO Jim Ryan took the stage at CES 2020 today to finally unveil the long-awaited PlayStation 5…logo. During the Sony CES keynote event, Ryan shared some notable milestones for the PlayStation 4 before talking up the company’s next-gen consoles. Other than confirming the previously known holiday 2020 release window, Ryan shared the logo for the PlayStation 5.

If you’re not familiar with it already, the PlayStation 5 logo is similar to that of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Except with the five numeral in place of the three and four. Much like the name of the console, the logo is a natural progression of Sony’s console evolution.

Ryan also spoke briefly about some of the features of the PlayStation 5, including 3D audio sound, adaptive triggers for the new controller, a faster SSD to improve loading times, as well as ray-tracing and an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. All of these features were already announced.

Ryan also confirmed that Sony will be sharing more details about the PlayStation 5 in the future, but considering it’s only January that leaves the whole calendar year open for potential PlayStation 5 to reveal events.

The PlayStation 5 launches in Holiday 2020 alongside Microsoft’s own next-generation console, Xbox Series X.
